DESCRIPTION: Unknown, Pennsylvania, 8 days, time and strike, weight brass movement half column & splat shelf clock, c1833. Case looks to have been locally made based on a Connecticut example because the method of construction is different from those made in Connecticut.
CONDITION: Refinished mahogany veneered case with some veneer loss on the base and a couple chips on the bottom of the door. Original painted iron dial with some wear and minor loss at the mounting pins may have been made by William Jones of Philadelphia Brass. Hands are original. Mirror is a replacement. There is written on the backboard a note that this clock was purchased in February, 1833 from an Andrew Smith. The access panel to the back of the movement is missing. Movement is a unique, well made miniature of a rack & snail striking tall clock mov't. Ht 38"
